Is the Schlage BE365 worth it over a smart lock?

Yes if you want a code entry with no app, hub or wiring. A connected lock costs more and needs Wi-Fi or a hub, but adds remote access and multiple users.

How many codes can it store?

One user code at a time. You can change it at the keypad whenever you need, but you cannot give separate codes to different people.

What happens when the battery dies?

The included key still unlocks the door. A low-battery warning beeps and flashes before it goes dead, and the battery is a single 9V.

It fits standard doors 1⅝ to 1¾ inches thick with a 2⅛-inch cross bore and 1-inch edge bore. Check your existing deadbolt before buying.

Is it cheaper at other times of year?

It has sold between roughly $100 and $160. The $116.68 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026 is close to the low end, so waiting for a big drop is unlikely to pay off.

Our take on the Schlage BE365 V CAM 619 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt

The Schlage BE365 V CAM 619 is a battery-powered keypad deadbolt in Schlage's Camelot trim, finished in satin nickel. It unlocks with a four-digit code on the keypad or with the included key, so you are not locked out if the battery dies. It has no motor and no app: you turn the thumbturn by hand after the code is accepted, which is why the battery lasts about a year. At $116.68 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits near the low end of its recent range, where it has typically sold for roughly $100 to $160.
