Our take on the Schluter Kerdi Prefabricated Pipe Seal 1/2"

The Schluter Kerdi-Seal-PS is a prefabricated waterproofing collar for a 1/2-inch pipe penetration through Kerdi, Ditra or Ditra-XL membrane. A molded rubber gasket bonds to the pipe while the Kerdi flange laps onto the membrane, so the joint stays watertight without a field-built seal. The 4-mil sheet keeps build-up low under tile. At $8.97 at Skip's Custom Flooring Inc as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range across the five stores that list it.

Pros

Preformed Kerdi flange with an over-molded rubber gasket
Slips over a 1/2-inch NPT pipe nipple for a tight seal
4-mil thickness adds little build-up under tile
Matches the Schluter Shower System for one-brand waterproofing
Cheap part that removes a common leak point

Cons

Only fits 1/2-inch pipe; other sizes need a different seal
Requires Schluter membrane and thin-set to install correctly
Not a stand-alone waterproofing layer
One unit per pack, so count penetrations before ordering

Questions and answers

Is the Schluter Kerdi pipe seal worth it?: For a Kerdi or Ditra shower it is a low-cost way to get a factory-made, watertight seal at a pipe stub. A field-built seal costs less in parts but takes more time and skill to get right.
Does it fit a standard shower valve pipe?: It fits a 1/2-inch NPT pipe nipple. Check your valve and trim spec first, since some systems use different pipe sizes or need the separate mixing-valve seal.
Can I use it without Kerdi membrane?: No. The seal is designed to lap onto Kerdi, Ditra or Ditra-XL membrane with thin-set. On bare backer board it has nothing to bond to.
What is in the box?: One prefabricated Kerdi seal with the molded rubber gasket. Thin-set and membrane are sold separately.
When is it cheapest?: At $8.97 at Skip's Custom Flooring Inc as of November 4, 2026, it is already near the bottom of its recent range. Prices on small Schluter parts move little, so buying with your membrane order saves shipping.
Where is the Schluter Kerdi Prefabricated Pipe Seal 1/2" cheapest?: At Skip's Custom Flooring Inc, for $8.97, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Schluter Kerdi Prefabricated Pipe Seal 1/2"?: 6 stores we checked sell it, including Skip's Custom Flooring Inc, Lowe's, ShagTools, tileoutlets.com, Amazon.
