Is the KERDI-SEAL pipe seal worth it?

Yes, if you are already using KERDI waterproofing. It costs about $19.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026 and closes the gap at a pipe, which is one of the most common places a shower leaks behind the tile.

What size pipe does this seal fit?

This one fits 1/2-inch pipe. Schluter makes the seal in other pipe sizes, so match the seal to the actual pipe at the penetration.

Slip the collar over the pipe, then bond the fleece flange to the surrounding KERDI membrane with unmodified thinset. Overlap the membrane per Schluter's instructions so the wall stays one continuous waterproof layer.

Does it work with Ditra and KERDI-BOARD?

Yes. It is made to tie into KERDI membrane, Ditra and KERDI-BOARD, so it fits most KERDI-system shower assemblies.

Can I use it on a shower valve stem?

Yes. Valve stems and supply stub-outs are typical uses, as long as the pipe is 1/2 inch and the flange can bond to the membrane around it.

When is the best time to buy it?

Buy it with the rest of your waterproofing so you do not stall the job. At $19.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it is a small line item, and only one store currently lists a new price.

Our take on the Schluter KERDI-SEAL 1/2" Pipe Seal

The Schluter KERDI-SEAL is a molded waterproofing collar that seals where a pipe passes through KERDI membrane, Ditra or KERDI-BOARD. This version fits 1/2-inch pipe and bonds to the surrounding membrane with unmodified thinset, so the wall stays one continuous waterproof layer. It is a small, low-cost part that prevents a common leak point at shower valves and supply stub-outs. At $19.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.
