Is Kerdi-Band worth it over generic waterproofing tape?

For a Schluter system, yes. It is made to bond to Kerdi, Ditra and Kerdi-Board with unmodified thinset, so it keeps the assembly within Schluter's warranty. Generic fabric tape may work but is not approved for those systems.

How much area does one roll cover?

The roll is 5 inches wide and 197 inches long, about 6.8 square feet of strip. That handles the seams and corners of a typical tub surround or small shower; larger showers often need two rolls.

What thinset do I use with Kerdi-Band?

Unmodified thinset, mixed per the bag. Schluter specifies unmodified mortar over its membranes because modified thinset needs air to cure and the membrane blocks it.

Can I use it with Ditra on a floor?

Yes. Kerdi-Band seals Ditra seams and the floor-to-wall joint where Ditra meets Kerdi on the walls, using unmodified thinset on both surfaces.

Does it work on outside corners?

Yes. The fleece-backed strip is pliable and folds around inside and outside corners. Cut and overlap pieces rather than stretching the band around tight corners.

When is the price lowest?

It has been near $20 at The Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, the low end of its recent range. Watch for bulk pricing if you need several rolls.
