Is the drain included?

No. The kit ships without a drain, so budget for a Kerdi-Drain kit in the 2-inch outlet size separately.

Will it fit a 38 x 60 alcove?

Yes, the tray is 38 x 60 inches with a 6-inch curb. Confirm the drain is off-center in the same spot as your rough-in.

Can I cut the tray to fit?

You can trim the tray edges, but keep the slope toward the drain intact. Cutting near the drain or changing its position is not recommended.

What substrate does the tray need?

A flat, level, structurally sound floor, typically plywood or concrete. The 1.5-inch foam tray will rock or crack over an uneven subfloor.

Is it worth it over a traditional liner?

The kit costs more up front but replaces a liner, backer board and separate waterproofing with one bonded membrane. Many pros choose it for fewer leak points.

Our take on the Schluter Kerdi Shower System Kit

The Schluter Kerdi Shower System Kit is a complete waterproofing package for a 38 x 60-inch shower: a sloped expanded-polystyrene tray, an ABS curb, 108 sq. ft. of Kerdi membrane and a 33-foot waterproofing strip. The tray is 1.5 inches tall at the perimeter with a 6-inch curb, and the drain hole is off-center, so check your rough-in before ordering. The drain assembly is not included.
