Will this drive work in a regular desktop PC?

No. It uses a SAS connector, which does not fit SATA ports. You need a SAS host bus adapter or a server backplane.

Is $42.11 a good price for this drive?

It is a low price for a new 1TB enterprise SAS drive, and it is the best of four new listings as of November 5, 2026. Expect prices near this level given the drive's age.

Is it worth buying over a current SATA drive?

Only if you already have SAS bays to fill. A modern SATA or SAS drive is faster, quieter and more efficient for new builds.

What is the difference between the 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 3TB versions?

Capacity only; they share the same 7200 rpm SAS design. Pick the size that matches your array's existing drives.

Does it come with cables or a caddy?

No. It ships as a bare drive, so you supply the SAS cable, backplane and mounting hardware.

Our take on the Seagate Constellation ES 1TB Hard Drive

The Seagate Constellation ES is an enterprise-grade 3.5-inch hard drive built for servers and storage arrays, not desktops. This 1TB model spins at 7200 rpm and uses a SAS interface, so it needs a SAS controller or backplane, not a standard SATA port. The best new price is $42.11 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, which is low for a 1TB enterprise drive but reflects its age and niche connector.
