Our take on the Shaw Albright LG Oak Engineered Hardwood, 5"

Shaw Albright LG Oak is a 10 mm engineered oak plank in a 5-inch width, made for glue-down installation over a sound subfloor. The 10 mm build gives it a stiffer feel underfoot than thin 6–8 mm engineered planks, and the oak face keeps a natural grain look. At $10.00 at Royal Flooring as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range across the 4 stores that list it new, so this is not a markdown moment.

Pros
  • 10 mm thickness feels solid and resists flex
  • 5-inch planks give a classic, not trendy, look
  • Engineered oak handles humidity swings better than solid wood
  • Glue-down holds firm and limits hollow sound
Cons
  • Adhesive install is slower and messier than click-lock
  • Not a floating floor, so no easy DIY removal
  • $10.00 per sq ft is high for engineered oak
  • No price break visible at the 4 stores listing it

Questions and answers

Is $10.00 a good price for this floor?
It is the best new price found, at Royal Flooring as of November 4, 2026, but it sits at the high end of the recent range. Engineered oak at 10 mm often sells for less, so compare against other Shaw oak lines before committing.
Can I install it myself?
Yes, but it is a glue-down plank, not click-lock. That means spreading adhesive, setting planks with tight seams and letting it cure, which is slower and less forgiving than a floating floor.
How does 10 mm compare with thinner engineered planks?
It is thicker than common 6–8 mm engineered floors, so it feels stiffer and less springy underfoot. It also leaves less room for future sanding than a thicker 15 mm plank.
Does it work over concrete?
Glue-down engineered oak is a common choice over concrete slabs, provided the slab is dry and flat. Moisture testing before install is essential.
What is in the box?
Planks only. Adhesive, underlayment and trim are sold separately, so budget for those on top of the $10.00 per sq ft.
When is it cheapest?
Flooring tends to dip during store promotions and end-of-season clearances. Watch the price history rather than buying at the current top-of-range $10.00.
Where is the Shaw Albright LG Oak Engineered Hardwood, 5" cheapest?
At Royal Flooring, for $10.00, 90% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Shaw Albright LG Oak Engineered Hardwood, 5"?
10 stores we checked sell it, including Royal Flooring, Flooring Market, The Flooring Advisor, eBay, Floor City.
