Is Shaw Floorte Classic waterproof?

Yes. The rigid WPC core is waterproof, so standing water and spills won't swell the planks. Water can still get under a floating floor at seams and edges, so wipe up large spills promptly.

How many cartons do I need?

Each carton covers 18.8 sq ft. Divide your room's square footage by 18.8 and add about 10 percent for cuts and waste, then round up.

Can it go over existing tile or concrete?

It can float over most flat, sound subfloors, including tile and cured concrete, with a moisture barrier and underlayment where needed. The subfloor must be flat within about 3/16 inch over 10 feet.

Does it work with radiant floor heat?

Yes, it is approved for radiant heating. Keep the surface temperature within the manufacturer's limit, typically around 85°F.

Our take on the Shaw Floorte Classic Vinyl Plank Flooring

Shaw Floorte Classic is a waterproof rigid-core vinyl plank in a wood look, sold in 7-inch by 48-inch planks that click together with Shaw's Fold-N-Tap system. The 8 mm core with a 0.5 mm (about 20 mil) wear layer and ScufResist Platinum finish puts it in the durable mid-to-upper range for floating vinyl. Each carton covers 18.8 sq ft and weighs about 30 lbs, so a 300 sq ft room needs roughly 16 cartons. The best new price is $153.82 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new.
