Questions and answers

Is the Skyshalo cutting machine worth it for a hobbyist?

At $156.51 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026, it is cheap for a 1.5-ton press. If you cut the same shapes often and already own steel dies, it pays off quickly. If you cut a few pieces a month, hand tools may be enough.

What dies does it take?

It uses standard steel cutting dies sized to fit the 10.2 x 5.9 in bed. Dies are not included, so check the footprint of your existing dies before buying.

How thick a material can it cut?

The stroke adjusts up to 12 mm, or about 0.47 in. That covers most leather weights, plus foam, rubber and similar sheet goods. Very dense material at full thickness may need more than one pass.

Does it need to be bolted down?

It weighs 54.5 lbs and the lever pulls with real force, so mounting it to a sturdy bench is the safe choice. The manganese steel base has room for fasteners.

What is in the box?

The press, the embossing plate and the mounting hardware are included. Cutting dies are sold separately.

When is it cheapest?

Only one store lists it new, at $156.51 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026. With no competing listings, watch for seasonal Walmart discounts rather than store-to-store price gaps.
