Our take on the Solgar Alpha Lipoic Acid

Solgar Alpha Lipoic Acid is a daily antioxidant supplement in vegetable capsules, with added vitamins C and E. Alpha lipoic acid is a fatty acid the body makes in small amounts and also gets from foods like spinach and red meat; it is used as a general antioxidant rather than a proven treatment for any condition. The capsules are non-GMO and certified gluten free. The best new price is $18.89 at Glams Secret as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it, so there is no recent price range to compare against.

Questions and answers

Is Solgar Alpha Lipoic Acid worth it?
It is a reasonable choice if you want a gluten-free, non-GMO alpha lipoic acid capsule with vitamins C and E from a well-known brand. It is not a proven treatment for any disease, so judge it as a general antioxidant supplement.
How much alpha lipoic acid is in each capsule?
The listing does not state the milligram amount per capsule. Check the Supplement Facts label on the bottle before buying if dose matters to you.
Can I take it with diabetes medication?
Alpha lipoic acid can lower blood sugar, so it may add to the effect of insulin or other diabetes drugs. Talk to your doctor before combining them.
Is it gluten free and vegetarian?
Yes. Solgar lists it as certified gluten free and non-GMO, and it comes in a vegetable capsule rather than a gelatin one.
When is the best time to buy it?
Only one store, Glams Secret, lists it new at $18.89 as of November 4, 2026, so there is little price competition. Compare that price against the brand's other sizes before buying.
