Is the Sony FE 24-240mm worth it for travel?

Yes, if you want one lens for wide to telephoto and shoot mostly in daylight. It saves lens changes, but it is heavy and slow, so low-light shooters may prefer a faster zoom.

How does it compare with the Sony FE 70-300mm?

The 24-240mm starts much wider and covers more range in one lens. The 70-300mm is sharper at the long end but leaves a gap below 70mm.

Does it have image stabilization?

Yes, it has optical SteadyShot, which works with in-body stabilization on newer Sony bodies. It helps most at 100mm and beyond.

The lens comes with front and rear caps, a lens hood and a soft case. A tripod collar is not included.

Superzooms usually drop during holiday sales and when Sony runs lens promotions. Its only new price listed is $879.95 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026.

Is it sharp enough for a 42MP body?

It resolves well in the center but shows softness at the edges and at 240mm. Stopping down to f/8 improves sharpness across the frame.

Our take on the Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens

The Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS is a full-frame E-mount superzoom that covers wide angle to telephoto in one lens. It has optical SteadyShot stabilization and a linear AF motor, which makes it a one-lens option for travel and walkaround shooting. It is not a fast lens: the aperture drops to f/6.3 at 240mm, so it needs good light or higher ISO. Its best new price is $879.95 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, the only new price listed.
