Is the Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G worth it?

It is worth it if small size and sharpness matter more than a fast aperture. At $748 at Adorama as of November 7, 2026, it is priced near its recent high, so waiting for a drop makes sense.

How does it compare with the Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM?

The f/1.4 GM is much faster and better in low light but far larger, heavier, and more expensive. The f/2.8 G is the pick for a light travel kit.

Does it have image stabilization?

No. It relies on the camera body's stabilization, which most recent Sony full-frame bodies have.

What is the minimum focus distance?

About 0.24 m (9.4 in), which lets you get close to subjects for a wide-angle look.

Is it weather sealed?

Yes, it has dust- and moisture-resistant sealing, though it is not waterproof.

What comes in the box?

The lens, front and rear caps, a lens hood, and a soft pouch.

Our take on the Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G Lens

The Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G is a compact, wide-angle prime for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras. It is one of Sony's smallest full-frame lenses, with a metal build, an aperture ring, and a dust- and moisture-resistant design. Its $748 at Adorama as of November 7, 2026 is near the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment.
