Is the PS5 worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if you want Sony exclusives and the DualSense features. The library is mature, and $429.99 at Crown Pawnbrokers as of November 3, 2026 is a reasonable price for the disc model.

Should I get the disc edition or the Digital Edition?

The disc edition plays physical games, used discs and Blu-ray movies, and it can be resold. The Digital Edition is usually cheaper but locks you into PlayStation Store prices.

How much storage does the PS5 have?

The standard model has an 825GB SSD, with roughly 667GB usable after system files. You can add an M.2 NVMe SSD for more space.

Does the PS5 play PS4 games?

Yes, most PS4 discs and digital games run on the PS5, often with better frame rates or resolution. A small number of titles have compatibility issues.

What comes in the box?

The Crown Pawnbrokers listing includes the disc console, all accessories and one controller. A second DualSense costs extra.

When is the PS5 cheapest?

Discounts cluster around Black Friday, Prime Day and console bundle promotions. Prices near $400 for the disc model are the low end of its recent range.

Our take on the Sony Playstation 5 Video Game Console

The PlayStation 5 is Sony's current home console, sold here in the standard disc-drive edition with a Blu-ray drive, 4K output, ray tracing and the DualSense controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Its custom SSD cuts load times sharply, and the console runs the PS5 library plus most PS4 games. The best new price is $429.99 at Crown Pawnbrokers as of November 3, 2026, with 4 stores listing it new. That is close to the console's typical street price, which has hovered around $450 to $500 for the disc model, so it is a fair but not exceptional deal.

What reviewers say

Owners and reviewers rate the PS5 highly for its fast loading, the DualSense controller and its exclusive games. Common complaints are the console's size, the limited usable storage and fan noise on some units.

Near-instant load times
DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
Strong exclusive game library
Quiet operation in most games

Cons

Bulky design that needs space
825GB storage fills fast

No major visual leap over PS4 Pro in cross-gen titles
