Is the SPT Personal Humidifier worth it?

For a desk, nightstand or hotel room, yes: it is cheap, quiet and needs no tank cleaning. It will not raise humidity in a full room, so do not buy it for that.

How much area does it cover?

SPT rates it for small spaces under 400 square feet, but 120 cc/hour is really personal-range output. Expect it to help only within a few feet of the mist.

What kind of water bottle does it use?

It screws onto a standard bottle in place of a tank. Bottle thread sizes vary, so check that your bottle seals without leaking before relying on it.

About 30.7 dB at one foot at both its highest and lowest settings, which is close to a quiet whisper. Most people will not notice it while sleeping.

Does it shut off automatically?

Yes. It has automatic shutoff and a water-low indicator, so it stops when the bottle runs dry.

Our take on the SPT Personal Humidifier

The SPT Personal Humidifier is a tiny ultrasonic cool-mist unit that screws onto a standard water bottle instead of using its own tank. It measures about 4.3 by 2.6 by 3 inches and puts out roughly 120 cc of mist per hour, with adjustable humidity control, a low-water indicator and automatic shutoff. It is meant for a desk or nightstand, not a room. At $16.35 at Opentip.com as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range across the five stores that carry it.
