Is the Stage Custom Hip good for gigging?

Yes. The shallow shells load in fast and fit on small stages. You will need your own stands, pedal and cymbals, since it is a shell pack.

How does it compare with a standard Stage Custom kit?

It uses the same birch shells and hardware but with much shallower drums. You trade some low-end depth on the bass drum for a kit that is far easier to move.

Does the floor tom really work as a snare?

Yes. The 13" x 8" floor tom has 20-strand snare wires, so it can serve as a deep second snare or as a floor tom.

What is included in the box?

The 20" x 8" bass drum, 10" x 5" rack tom, 13" x 8" floor tom, 13" x 5" snare and the CL-940LB tom holder. Stands, pedal and cymbals are not included.

Is $879.99 a good price?

It is the lowest of 8 new listings as of November 7, 2026, and sits at the low end of its recent range. That makes it a solid buy if you want this kit now.

What style of music suits it?

The birch shells are balanced and punchy, so it handles rock, pop, funk and jazz. The compact bass drum suits amplified and acoustic gigs where space is tight.
