Is the Step2 Deluxe Art Master Desk worth it?

For families with a 3- to 5-year-old and room for a floor-standing desk, it combines an easel, a work surface and storage in one piece. If space is tight, a folding easel is cheaper and smaller.

Step2 lists it for 36 months to 5 years. Older kids will outgrow the desk height fairly quickly.

What batteries does it need?

It takes 3 AAA and 2 AA batteries, not included. They power the desk's electronic features.

The desk parts and a 50-piece accessory set. Assembly is required, and batteries are sold separately.

How big is it assembled?

About 86 x 38 x 104 cm and roughly 13 kg, so plan for a permanent spot rather than moving it often.

Step2 desks tend to dip during holiday sales and back-to-school promotions. Check the price history before buying.

Our take on the Step2 Deluxe Art Master Desk

The Step2 Deluxe Art Master Desk is a plastic children's art station for ages 3 to 5, with a built-in easel surface, storage and a 50-piece accessory set. It stands about 103 cm tall and weighs roughly 13 kg, so it is a floor-standing piece rather than a tabletop toy. Assembly is required, and it needs 3 AAA and 2 AA batteries (not included) for its electronic features. It is a long-running Step2 design, so prices vary widely by store and season.
