Question 1

Is this a real offset smoker or just a grill with a side box?

Accepted Answer

It is a true offset: the firebox sits beside the barrel and smoke travels across the cooking chamber. That gives indirect heat for ribs, brisket and pork shoulder, not just direct grilling.

Question 2

How much meat fits on it?

Accepted Answer

The 45.5-inch barrel is the main cooking length, so it holds several racks of ribs or a couple of pork shoulders at once. The offset box is for fuel and smoke, not food.

Question 3

Does it come with a thermometer?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a lid-mounted thermometer is included. It reads at the lid, not at grate level, so a separate probe thermometer is worth adding for accurate meat and pit temps.

Question 4

Is $139.95 a good price?

Accepted Answer

It is the best new price found as of November 7, 2026, at eBay, and only two stores list it new. Budget offsets from bigger brands usually run $250 and up, so this is cheap for the size.

Question 5

What should I expect to fix or upgrade?

Accepted Answer

Owners of budget offsets commonly seal lid and firebox gaps, add a grate-level thermometer and keep it covered. Budget for a cover and some high-temp sealant.

Question 6

How hard is assembly?

Accepted Answer

Expect a few hours with basic tools, and have a second person for the barrel and firebox. The steel is heavy and awkward to lift alone.
