Owners of the Race line generally rate the series highly for battery life and training tools. The Race 2's lighter build and improved heart rate sensor are the main talking points, with some users missing the all-metal feel of the original.
SUUNTO RACE 2 Great support for training, racing and everyday just like the original Suunto Race, but improved Designed for performance Race 2 is designed to match the style and design construction, introduced in Race S. The case material has been partly changed from metal to plastic in order to make the watch lighter The back plate is completely renewed with new OHR hardware and a new charging interface, making the new cable much more user friendly compared to the old cable. Optical heartrate takes a leap The whole back cover of the Race 2 has been reinvented. A completely redesigned OHR is introduced, bringing heartrate measurement to a new level of accuracy. The charger interface has been renewed, now snapping to the watch and staying in place incredibly well. Hardware that will keep up with you Race 2 comes with a completely renewed hardware, a new MCU that makes things happen in double speed and a boatload of more memory to be used for features. For users, this means that algorithms are faster to react, the UI transitions are smoother, and things happen snappier than before. The additional memory means future proofness, that more features will fit in with later updates but also that more advanced features can be run on the watch than ever before.
