Is a 98-inch TV too big for my room?

You want roughly 8 to 10 feet of viewing distance for a screen this size. Below that, the picture can feel overwhelming and you may see pixel structure up close.

Does the TCL RM9L need a soundbar?

Most owners of large TCL sets add one. The built-in speakers are fine for news but thin for movies, so budget for a soundbar or AV receiver.

How does Mini LED compare with OLED here?

Mini LED gets brighter and has no burn-in risk, which suits big bright rooms. OLED gives deeper blacks and wider viewing angles, but 98-inch OLEDs cost far more.

Can I wall-mount a 98-inch TV?

Yes, but use a heavy-duty mount rated well above the TV's weight and hit studs. Plan on two or more people, or a professional installer.

Our take on the TCL 98 Inch Class RM9L Mini LED TV

The TCL RM9L is a 98-inch 4K Mini LED TV, a screen size that until recently cost five figures. Mini LED backlighting gives it high brightness and strong contrast for a big, bright room, and 98 inches is genuinely cinematic at 8 to 10 feet. At $5,999.99 at Best Buy as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, and only two stores list it new.
