Questions and answers

Is the Summit Futurelight jacket worth $333.33?
It is worth it if you run regularly in rain and value breathability over warmth. At $333.33 from eBay as of November 5, 2026, it costs more than most running shells, and only two stores list it new, so there is little price competition.
How does Futurelight compare with Gore-Tex?
Futurelight uses a nanospun membrane that The North Face markets as more breathable than standard waterproof fabrics. In practice it is comparable to Gore-Tex Active for running, with similar waterproofing and a softer hand.
Does it have pockets and a hood?
It has a hood and a two-way front zipper with sealed seams. Pocket layout varies by version, so check the listing photos before buying.
What is the fit like?
The fit is relaxed, so it layers over a base layer and light midlayer without binding. Runners who want a trim race fit may want to size down.
Can I machine wash it?
Yes, it is machine washable. Use a technical wash without fabric softener and tumble low or hang dry to keep the membrane and water-repellent finish working.
When is it cheapest?
End-of-season sales in late fall and winter are the usual window for discounts on running shells. Right now the best new price is $333.33 at eBay as of November 5, 2026.
