Is the Toro 21462 worth $499?

It is a fair price for a self-propelled 22-inch mower with electric start and a steel deck, but it is at the top of its recent range. If you do not need Personal Pace or electric start, a cheaper push mower will cut the same grass.

How does Personal Pace work?

You set the handle position once and the mower matches your walking speed as you push or slow down. There are no speed levers to adjust while mowing.

Does it come with a battery for the electric start?

Yes. The electric-start battery is included, along with an 18 oz bottle of oil, the grass bag and a quick start guide.

Can it bag and mulch?

Yes. It mulches with the Recycler deck, bags with the 1.8-bushel Super Bagger, and Bag on Demand switches between the two without removing the bag. Side discharge requires an optional chute.

How much lawn can it handle?

Toro rates it for up to half an acre. The 22-inch deck and 163cc engine suit typical suburban lots.

Self-propelled mowers usually drop in late fall and winter. At $499 as of November 5, 2026, it is at the top of its range, so waiting for an end-of-season markdown is reasonable.
