At $89.99 at PetSmart as of November 4, 2026, it is priced near the bottom of its recent range. That is fair for a pine house with a shingle roof, provided you reseal the wood each year.

Can it stay outside all winter?

It shelters cats from rain and wind but has no insulation. In freezing climates, add bedding and place it out of the wind, or bring cats indoors.

How many cats fit inside?

Does it come assembled?

No. Assembly is required, and all hardware is included. Expect to spend an hour or more putting it together.

The pine panels, asphalt shingle roof, plastic door flaps, shutters and all mounting hardware. Tools for assembly are not included.

Is it compatible with a litter box?

TRIXIE lists it as compatible with its litter box enclosures, but the interior is small. Measure your box before counting on it fitting.

Our take on the TRIXIE 3-Story Outdoor Wooden Cat House

The TRIXIE 3-Story Outdoor Wooden Cat House is a small freestanding shelter built from solid pine with a weatherproof finish and an asphalt shingle roof. It stacks three levels with a front door on the second floor, a side door on the first, slatted plastic flaps, latched shutters and two peek-a-boo holes. A hinged back door opens for cleaning, and the raised floor sits on hard plastic footing to keep it off wet ground. At $89.99 at PetSmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with 11 stores listing it new.
