Is the LifePod 2.0 worth it over the original LifePod?

The 2.0 adds a removable tray, lid organizer and interior light, and fits longer pistols. If you only need basic lockable storage, the original is cheaper; for full-size guns the 2.0 is the better fit.

Will a full-size pistol with a light or optic fit?

Vaultek rates it for handguns up to 9.25 inches long, but mounted lights and optics eat into the height and width. Measure your setup against the interior before buying.

It is water resistant and floats, with an airtight seal, but it is not rated for submersion. Treat it as protection from rain, dust and splashes.

What comes in the box?

Two manual keys, a steel security cable, lid organizer, removable interior tray, interior foam padding and a carry handle.

How is the lock powered?

It runs on a battery for the keypad and biometric options, with manual keys as backup. Check the battery periodically if the case sits unused.

Our take on the Vaultek Lifepod 2.0

The Vaultek LifePod 2.0 is a portable, lockable case for a full-size handgun, built from a non-metal polymer and sealed to be airtight, dustproof and water resistant. It floats, has a touch-sensitive LED keypad plus a manual keyway, and includes a removable tray, lid organizer, foam padding and a steel security cable. It is a travel and vehicle lockbox rather than a heavy home safe. The best new price is $169.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new.
