Does this bed frame need a box spring?

No. It is a platform frame, so a mattress can sit directly on it. A box spring would only add height.

What size mattress fits it?

It is a king-size frame, so use a standard king mattress. Check the listed 193-inch width against your room before ordering.

Is the frame solid wood?

No. The frame is plywood with velvet upholstery, which keeps the price low but is less sturdy than solid wood.

How hard is assembly?

It ships flat and must be assembled. Owners describe the process as doable but time-consuming, so set aside an afternoon.

Is $148.99 a good price?

It is the only new price listed, at vidaXL.com as of November 7, 2026. There is no recent range to compare it against, so judge it against other king upholstered frames.

Can the velvet cover be cleaned?

Spot-clean gently and vacuum with a soft brush. Velvet can mark, so avoid harsh cleaners and heavy rubbing.

Where is the vidaXL Bed Frame Upholstered Platform cheapest?

Our take on the vidaXL Bed Frame Upholstered Platform

This is a king-size platform bed frame from vidaXL, upholstered in gray velvet over a plywood frame. It is a budget, assembly-required frame aimed at shoppers who want a soft upholstered look without a box spring. At $148.99 at vidaXL.com as of November 7, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare it against. The low price reflects its plywood build and flat-pack construction rather than a premium furniture finish.
