Is the Vizio P659G1 worth it over cheaper 65-inch TVs?

If you watch a lot of HDR movies or sport in a lit room, the 200 dimming zones and 1100 nits are a real step up from budget edge-lit sets. For a dark room and a tight budget, a cheaper set may be enough.

Does it support Dolby Vision and HDR10?

Yes. It handles Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG, so most streaming HDR content will play in its native format.

How many HDMI ports does it have?

Five HDMI inputs, plus one USB port. That is enough for a console, a soundbar and several streaming devices at once.

Is 240Hz a true refresh rate?

No. 240Hz is Vizio's effective refresh rate, achieved with motion processing; the native panel rate is lower. Expect smoother motion but not true 240Hz gaming.

Do I need a soundbar with this TV?

The built-in speakers output 20 watts, which is fine for news but thin for movies. Most owners add a soundbar or receiver for better dialogue and bass.

When is the best time to buy it?

Vizio P-Series sets see the deepest discounts around Black Friday and during clearance before new models arrive. Check the price history on this page before buying.
