Our take on the Wayfair Amari 84" Slipcover Sleeper Sofa

The Amari is an 84-inch slipcovered sleeper sofa from Wayfair with rolled arms, reversible cushions and a fabric cover you can take off and wash. At 31 inches high and 40 inches deep, it is a low, deep three-seater that folds out into a bed for guests. The slipcover design makes it easier to keep clean than a fixed-upholstery sofa, and the reversible cushions spread wear. It sits in the budget-to-mid range for sleeper sofas of this size, so expect a foam mattress rather than an innerspring one.

Questions and answers

Is the Amari sleeper sofa good for guests?
Yes for occasional guests. The fold-out foam mattress is fine for a few nights but too thin for everyday sleeping.
Can I wash the slipcover?
The cover is removable, so it can be taken off for cleaning. Check the care label before machine washing and dry it fully before refitting.
How big is it?
It measures 31 inches high, 84 inches wide and 40 inches deep. Measure doorways and stairs before ordering, since the 84-inch frame is bulky.
Does it come assembled?
It ships flat and needs some assembly, mainly attaching the legs and fitting the slipcover. Most owners report it takes under an hour.
How does it compare with a futon?
It looks like a regular sofa rather than a futon and has a thicker seat. The sleeper mattress is still basic, so a futon is cheaper but less comfortable to sit on.
When is the best time to buy?
Wayfair discounts furniture heavily around holiday sales and clearance events. Watch the price history and buy when it drops below its usual range.
