Is the Wefone WF20 worth it for a kid's first drone?

Yes, if the goal is learning the controls cheaply. Headless mode, one-key takeoff and emergency stop make crashes less likely, and the price is low enough that losing it stings less.

How long can it fly on the included batteries?

Wefone claims up to 40 minutes total across the two batteries, so roughly 20 minutes each. Real flights are usually shorter, especially with the camera streaming.

Does it need a phone to record video?

Yes. The camera streams over 5G WiFi to a phone app, which handles the FPV view and capture. There is no onboard SD card recording listed.

Can it hold its position outdoors?

Only with optical flow positioning, which works at low altitude over textured ground. There is no GPS, so it drifts in wind and has no return-to-home.

What comes in the box?

The drone, two rechargeable batteries, the camera, a controller and a portable carrying case.

Is $44.85 a good price?

It is the only price recorded since October 30, 2026, at $44.85 from Walmart, so there is no cheaper recent price to wait for. For a brushless, two-battery camera drone it is a low entry point.
