Is this daybed worth it compared with a regular twin bed?

If the room has to serve two purposes, yes. You get a seating surface and a twin bed in one footprint, plus storage. A plain twin bed costs less but gives you only one use.

What size mattress does it take?

It takes a standard twin mattress, sold separately. A thinner mattress, around 6 to 8 inches, keeps the backrest looking right when used as a sofa.

How much weight can the frame hold?

Metal daybeds of this type typically support an adult sleeper, but check the listing's stated weight limit before buying. It is most often used by kids and teens.

Does it come with the mattress or bedding?

No. The frame and storage are included; the mattress, pillows and bedding are not. Budget for a twin mattress on top of the frame price.

How long does assembly take?

Plan on one to two hours with two people. The parts are numbered, but some owners report the instructions are thin, so sorting hardware first helps.

Metal daybeds tend to drop during back-to-school and major holiday sales. Watch the price history rather than buying at first sight.

Our take on the Winston Porter Twin Daybed Metal

The Winston Porter Twin Daybed Metal is a metal-frame daybed that doubles as a twin sleeper, with built-in storage underneath. It comes in black, white, purple and pink, so it can be matched to a kid's room or a guest room. The frame is metal, which keeps it lighter and cheaper than most upholstered daybeds. It is a budget piece aimed at small rooms that need a seat by day and a bed at night.
