Is Robinia wood good for outdoor furniture?

Yes. Robinia, or black locust, is a dense hardwood that resists rot and insects well outdoors. Frontera describes it as better than teak for half the price, and it can be left out in the weather with occasional oiling.

The seat is 19.5 inches wide at the front, 18.5 inches wide at the back and 18.5 inches deep, with 18.5 to 19.5 inches between the arms. That makes it one of the roomier rocking chairs you can buy.

How much assembly is required?

It ships partially assembled. Frontera says full assembly takes about 20 minutes with a screwdriver and a rubber mallet or hammer.

What is the weight limit?

The chair is rated for 300 lbs. It weighs 37 lbs itself, so it is sturdy but not light to carry.

Is $749 a good price?

As of November 3, 2026, $749 at Frontera Furniture Company is the only new price listed, so there is no lower store price to compare against. Watch for restock sales, since Frontera says the rockers are often out of stock.

Can it stay outside all year?

Yes. It is built as an all-weather indoor/outdoor chair from Robinia hardwood. To keep the finish, oil or paint it periodically, especially in wet or sunny climates.
