Is the Yamaha DTX452K good for beginners?

Yes. The layout mirrors an acoustic kit, the module has 10 training functions, and the three-zone snare teaches rimshots early. It is one of the more realistic starter kits at this price.

Does it come with a kick pedal?

Yes. The box includes the KP65 kick pad and the FP6110A bass drum pedal, so you do not need to buy either separately.

The rubber pads and kick pad are quiet enough for apartment practice, though the kick beater still transmits some thump through the floor. A mat helps.

Can I use my own headphones or amp?

Yes. The DTX402 module has a stereo headphone output and can feed an amp or PA, so you can practice silently or play out loud.

Is $599.99 a good price?

It is the only price seen since November 3, 2026, and the best new price across four stores as of November 7, 2026. There is no cheaper recent low to wait for.

The kit includes the rack, five pads, hi-hat pad and controller, crash and ride pads, KP65 kick pad, FP6110A pedal and the DTX402 module. Sticks and a throne are not included.

Our take on the Yamaha DTX452K

The Yamaha DTX452K is a five-piece electronic drum kit built around the DTX402 module, with a 7.5-inch three-zone snare, three 7.5-inch toms, a KP65 kick pad with a real FP6110A pedal, and 10-inch hi-hat, crash and ride pads. Its main draw is the conventional kick setup and the expressive TP70S snare, which gives rimshot and head separation that most kits at this level lack. The module carries 10 preset kits and 10 training functions. Its best new price is $599.99 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 7, 2026, and it has held that price since November 3, 2026.

Cons

Rubber pads feel firmer and less bouncy than mesh heads
Hi-hat is a pad plus HH65 controller, not a moving two-piece hat
Only 10 preset kits and limited sound editing in the DTX402 module
No kick drum tower included; the KP65 pad sits on the floor
