- Noticeably snappier navigation than older Fire TV Sticks

- Setup walks you through in minutes
- Free ad-supported movies and shows included
- Persistent HDMI/AVR error messages needing reboots of TV, stick and receiver
- Remote buttons take getting used to
- Some listings mislabel the Wi-Fi version as 6E
NVIDIA Shield Android TV Pro

Questions and answers
- Which is better for just streaming Netflix and YouTube?
- The Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It covers both apps in 4K for $39.99 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, and the Shield's extras do not help with app streaming.
- Is the Shield TV Pro worth the extra money?
- Only if you use its hardware. Gigabit Ethernet, USB playback of MKV and other files, Dolby Vision and GeForce NOW justify $299.00 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 3, 2026; app-only streamers will not notice the difference.
- Which handles local video files better?
- The Shield TV Pro. It plays MKV, AVI, M2TS, MOV and MPEG-TS from USB flash or hard drives through its two USB 3.0 ports; the Fire TV Stick has no USB storage.
- Which has better networking?
- The Shield TV Pro, because it has Gigabit Ethernet. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max relies on Wi-Fi 6E, which is fast but still wireless.
- Which lasts longer?
- The Shield TV Pro has the sturdier hardware and wired ports, and NVIDIA has supported it with updates for years. The Fire TV Stick is cheaper to replace if it fails.
- Do both support voice control?
- Yes, but with different assistants. The Fire TV Stick uses Alexa and the Shield TV Pro uses Google Assistant.
