What reviewers say
IKEA UPPLAND Sofa with chaise
Owners generally describe the UPPLAND as soft and roomy, with the deep seat and washable covers being the most common reasons people keep it. Criticism tends to focus on cushion sagging and the particleboard frame over the long run.
Pros
- Deep, generous seats that are comfortable for lounging
- Washable covers hold up well to kids and pets
- Easy to assemble
- Looks like the Ektorp but sits deeper
Cons
- Seat cushions flatten with regular use
- Frame feels light for the price
- White cover needs frequent washing
- Bulky footprint in smaller rooms
Questions and answers
- Which is better for a family room?
- The UPPLAND, mainly for its washable covers and deep chaise. The Garvee's chenille is harder to clean if the maker does not specify removable covers.
- Which lasts longer?
- The UPPLAND is the safer bet on paper: a known particleboard frame and IKEA's standard sofa warranty against the Garvee's 30-day coverage. Neither is a lifetime sofa.
- Is the UPPLAND worth the extra over the Garvee?
- Only if the Garvee costs less than about $849, the UPPLAND's low since October 30, 2026. Above that, the UPPLAND's chaise and washable covers make it the better value.
- Can I lie down on both?
- Only the UPPLAND has a chaise, with a 22 7/8 in seat depth. The Garvee is a flat three-seater.
- Which is easier to clean?
- The UPPLAND, because the covers come off and wash. The Garvee's chenille care is not specified.
- Which is easier to assemble?
- The UPPLAND takes about 10 minutes. Garvee does not publish assembly details.
