Our take on the Alcott Hill 72" Lifesize Hanging Halloween Animated Shaking Ghost on Swing

The Alcott Hill Animated Shaking Ghost on Swing is a 72-inch hanging Halloween decoration: a fabric ghost seated on a swing that shakes and animates when switched on. It runs on batteries, so it needs no cord or outlet, and it is rated for both indoor and outdoor use. At 24 inches wide it is a large piece meant to hang from a porch, tree limb or doorway. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.

Best for
Porch and front-yard Halloween displays
Haunted-house or party scenes
Shoppers who want animation without wiring an outlet
Large-scale decorations that read from the street
Pros
  • Tall 72-inch figure makes a strong visual at a distance
  • Animated shaking motion adds movement to a static display
  • Battery power means no cords or outdoor outlets needed
  • Fabric body is light enough to hang from a hook or branch
  • Works indoors or outdoors
Cons
  • Battery operation means periodic battery changes, and cold weather drains them faster
  • Fabric will soak in rain and needs cover or dry storage
  • Hanging hardware and batteries are typically not included
  • Motion is a shake, not a full scare or sound effect

Questions and answers

How tall is the ghost, and how much space does it need?
It is 72 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Hang it with clearance below for the swing to move and for wind sway.
Does it need to be plugged in?
No. It is battery operated, so you can hang it where there is no outlet. Expect to replace batteries during the season, and use fresh ones in cold weather.
Can it stay outside in the rain?
It is listed for outdoor use, but the body is fabric. Bring it in during heavy rain or store it dry, or the fabric will stay damp and lose shape.
Does it make sound or light up?
The listed feature is animation: the ghost shakes on its swing. No sound or lighting feature is listed.
What do I need to hang it?
It hangs from a hook, branch or bracket, which is not included. Pick an anchor rated for the weight and check it holds in wind.
When is the best time to buy Halloween decor?
Halloween decorations usually discount in late October and clear out in early November. Buying then risks low stock, so compare prices across stores before you commit.
