This is a complete American mahjong set with 166 white engraved tiles, four combined racks and pushers, and a pearl-gray quilted soft case. It covers the full Western mahjong tile count, including jokers and the extra tiles American rules call for, so it is ready for four-player games out of the box. At $54.79 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end for a full 166-tile set with racks and a case; comparable sets often run $60 to $100.

Pros
  • Full 166-tile count for American/Western mahjong rules
  • Engraved white tiles stay legible longer than printed ones
  • Racks and pushers are combined, so no separate pieces to buy
  • Quilted soft case keeps tiles organized and is easier to carry than a hard case
  • Four-player set with everything needed to start playing
Cons
  • Soft case offers less protection than a hard-sided case
  • Tile thickness and weight are not specified, and budget sets often use thinner tiles
  • No scorecards, dice or rulebook listed
  • Engraved white tiles can show dirt more than colored tiles

Questions and answers

Is this a full American mahjong set?
Yes. It has 166 tiles, the count American mahjong uses, including jokers and the extra tiles the National Mah Jongg League card calls for. It also includes four racks with pushers.
What comes in the box?
The listing describes 166 engraved white tiles, four combined racks and pushers, and a pearl-gray quilted soft case. Dice, scorecards and a rulebook are not mentioned, so plan to supply those yourself.
Is $54.79 a good price?
It is a low price for a complete 166-tile set with racks and a case. Three stores list it new, and $54.79 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026 is the best of those. Sets with thicker tiles or hard cases usually cost more.
Are the tiles engraved or printed?
They are engraved, which generally holds up better than printed faces that can wear off with heavy play. The listing does not give tile thickness.
Can I use it with the National Mah Jongg League card?
Yes. The 166-tile American configuration matches the league card's tile requirements, so you can play the standard American game with it.
Is the soft case good for travel?
It is light and easy to carry, but a quilted soft case protects tiles less than a hard case. It suits storage and car trips more than rough travel.
