Our take on the Avenco 14 inch King Size Medium Cooling Gel Memory Foam Mattress

The Avenco 14-inch King is an all-foam, bed-in-a-box mattress with a knit polyester cover and cooling gel memory foam over high-density base foam. At 14 inches it is a thick profile, and the medium-firm feel targets back and stomach sleepers more than dedicated side sleepers. It is a budget-tier brand, so expect a simple foam build rather than coils or zoned support. Its latest best price sits at the low end of its recent range, which is typical for this class of mattress.

Pros
  • 14-inch profile gives a substantial, built-up feel
  • Gel-infused memory foam aims to sleep cooler than plain foam
  • Medium-firm support suits back and stomach sleepers
  • Ships compressed in a box and expands on a bed frame
  • All-foam build limits motion transfer between partners
Cons
  • No coils or edge reinforcement, so edges feel soft
  • All-foam king can sleep warm for hot sleepers
  • Medium-firm may be too firm for light side sleepers
  • Foam density is not disclosed, so long-term durability is uncertain
  • Heavy and awkward to move once expanded

Questions and answers

Is the Avenco 14-inch King worth it?
For a budget king-size foam mattress, yes, if you want a medium-firm surface and don't need coils or strong edge support. Compare it against other boxed foam kings at the same price before deciding.
Is it good for side sleepers?
It is medium-firm, which many side sleepers find too firm at the shoulder and hip. Light side sleepers should look at a softer model or add a topper.
Does it sleep cool?
The gel-infused memory foam is meant to reduce heat buildup, but this is still an all-foam mattress and hot sleepers may find it warm. A breathable protector and a cool room help.
What size is the king?
It measures 80 inches long by 76 inches wide and 14 inches thick, the standard king footprint. Check your frame and room clearance before ordering.
What comes in the box?
The mattress arrives compressed and rolled in a box. It expands over roughly 24 to 72 hours, and a foundation or frame is sold separately.
When is it cheapest?
Boxed mattresses like this one tend to drop during major sale events and holiday weekends. Track the price history and buy when it falls below its recent average.
