Our take on the Avenco Spring Thread 14" Medium Queen Mattress in a Box

The Avenco Spring Thread 14" is a hybrid queen mattress that pairs pocketed springs with memory foam in a tight-top build, sold compressed in a box. The 14-inch height gives it a plusher, more substantial feel than thinner bed-in-a-box hybrids, and the medium comfort level is aimed at a broad range of sleepers. It is not adjustable-base compatible, which matters if you plan to pair it with a powered frame.

Questions and answers

Is the Avenco Spring Thread 14" good for side sleepers?
Yes, for most side sleepers under about 200 pounds. The medium foam top cushions shoulders and hips while the coils keep the spine supported. Heavier side sleepers may want a softer or thicker comfort layer.
Can I use this mattress on an adjustable base?
No. Avenco lists it as not adjustable-base compatible, so it is meant for a flat foundation, box spring or slatted frame.
How long does it take to expand after unboxing?
Most hybrid mattresses in a box reach near-full height within 24 to 48 hours. Expect minor settling for a few days before the 14-inch height is fully reached.
Does the Avenco Spring Thread 14" sleep hot?
It can. The memory foam top layer traps some heat, and the tight top has no cooling gel or airflow panel. Hot sleepers should pair it with breathable sheets or a cooling mattress protector.
Is it good for couples?
Generally yes. The pocketed coil layer limits motion transfer, and the medium feel works for mixed sleeping positions. Heavier sleepers may find it softer than they prefer.
What do buyers say about the Avenco Spring Thread 14" Medium Queen Mattress in a Box?
Rated 4.5 out of 5 from 1,300 ratings.
