Our take on the Basics by Wayfair 6 Piece 100% Cotton Towel Set

A six-piece 100% cotton towel set from Wayfair's Basics line, built at 520 GSM, which is midweight for bath towels. The set covers the usual mix of bath, hand and washcloth sizes and comes in several colors. At $29.99 at Wayfair as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a six-piece cotton set costs, so there is little room to wait for a deeper cut.

Best forFurnishing a first apartment or guest bath on a budgetBuying several matching sets for a rental or AirbnbShoppers who want plain cotton towels in a chosen colorReplacing worn towels without spending per-piece prices
Pros
  • 520 GSM is a reasonable midweight: absorbent without a long dry time
  • 100% cotton, so it tolerates hot washes and bleach better than blends
  • Six pieces per set means bath, hand and washcloth are covered in one buy
  • Multiple color options make it easy to match an existing bathroom
  • $29.99 for six pieces works out to about $5 per towel
Cons
  • Midweight cotton feels thinner than 600+ GSM luxury towels
  • Basics-line cotton is not combed or long-staple, so it may pill or shed lint early on
  • Only one store, Wayfair, prices it new, so there is no price competition
  • Color choices can sell out, leaving fewer options at the low price

Is this towel set worth $29.99?
At about $5 per piece, yes, if you want basic cotton towels that will take hard use. Skip it if you expect hotel-weight plushness.
What sizes are in the six-piece set?
A standard Basics six-piece set pairs two bath towels with two hand towels and two washcloths. Check the listing's dimensions before ordering, since sizes vary by set.
How does 520 GSM feel?
Midweight. It is absorbent and dries faster than 600+ GSM towels, but it will not feel thick or fluffy.
Will these towels shrink or bleed color?
All-cotton towels usually shrink some in the first hot wash. Wash dark colors separately the first time to catch any dye release.
