Our take on the Bedsure Down Alternative Comforter Duvet Insert

The Bedsure Down Alternative Comforter is a box-stitched microfiber duvet insert filled with synthetic down alternative, sold in Twin through California King. It is a budget pick: the 178-thread-count shell and polyester fill are built for warmth and easy washing rather than hotel-style loft. The best new price is $43.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, the low end of what it has sold for recently. Five stores carry it new, so prices move around.

Pros
  • Low price for a full-size comforter
  • Box stitching keeps the fill from shifting into clumps
  • Machine washable and quick to dry
  • Synthetic fill suits down-allergy sleepers
  • Comes in five sizes and several colors
Cons
  • 178 thread count microfiber feels less crisp than cotton
  • Thin loft compared with real down or pricier alternatives
  • Synthetic fill can trap heat for hot sleepers
  • White and light colors show stains and need a duvet cover

Questions and answers

Is the Bedsure down alternative comforter worth it?
At $43.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it is a reasonable buy for a spare bed, dorm or rental. Expect a light, synthetic comforter, not down-level loft.
Does it work as a duvet insert?
Yes. It has corner loops and box stitching, so it fits inside a duvet cover and the fill stays put. Many owners use a cover to protect the light colors.
How warm is it?
It is a medium-weight comforter, fine for most rooms in spring and fall. Hot sleepers may find the polyester fill traps heat, and cold rooms may need an extra blanket.
Can I machine wash it?
Yes. Wash on cold and tumble dry low; a large front-loading machine handles Queen and King sizes better than a top-loader with an agitator.
What sizes and colors does it come in?
Twin, Full, Queen, King and California King, in white, gray, black and ivory. Check the listing for the exact color name before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
Budget comforters like this one usually dip during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Compare the five stores carrying it before buying.
Where is the Bedsure Down Alternative Comforter Duvet Insert cheapest?
At Target, for $43.99, 37% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Bedsure Down Alternative Comforter Duvet Insert?
Rated 4.1 out of 5 from 27 ratings.
Where can I buy the Bedsure Down Alternative Comforter Duvet Insert?
5 stores we checked sell it, including Wayfair, Target, eBay, Lowe's, WoodArtSupply.
