Is the Lift-Off pod worth it over a standard upright?

Yes if you have stairs, upholstery or car interiors to clean. The pod detaches with the tanks and brush head so you carry a lighter unit instead of the whole 24.25-lb base.

How does it compare with the ProHeat 2X Revolution?

The Lift-Off keeps the detachable pod and heated cleaning; the Revolution line is generally lighter and easier to push but does not offer the same removable cleaning unit on every model. Choose Lift-Off for stairs and pet spots, Revolution for large open rooms.

How much carpet can one tank clean?

The clean tank holds 3/4 gallon of solution. Expect to refill after roughly one medium room, and to empty the dirty tank about as often.

Does it work on hard floors or only carpet?

It is designed for carpet and rugs. Bissell sells hard-floor tools for some models, but this unit's brush and suction setup is aimed at carpet.

What comes in the box?

The cleaner, a trial-size antibacterial cleaning formula and a sample of stain pretreat. Check the listing for the exact included accessories before buying.

Carpet cleaners tend to drop around spring cleaning sales and Black Friday. Watch the price history here and buy when it sits near the low end of its recent range.

Our take on the Bissell ProHeat 2X Lift-Off Pet Carpet Cleaner

The Bissell ProHeat 2X Lift-Off Pet is an upright carpet cleaner built around pet messes. Its signature feature is the Lift-Off pod: the clean and dirty tanks and brush head detach from the base so you can carry them up stairs or onto upholstery. It has HeatWave heated cleaning, a 12-row Dual DirtLifter PowerBrush, Edge Sweep brushes and three modes (Express, Deep, MAX). It is corded, weighs 24.25 lbs and holds 3/4 gallon of solution.
