Is Canine Gut Soothe worth it?

It is a reasonable pick if your dog has occasional loose stools tied to stress or diet changes and you want a prebiotic and probiotic in one powder. At $34.99 at betrbowl, by Pet Planet as of November 3, 2026, it is priced in line with other vet-formulated dog probiotics.

How does it compare with a plain probiotic?

Gut Soothe adds prebiotics and herbs to the 30 billion CFU of probiotics, aiming at both gut flora and a healthy inflammatory response. A plain probiotic is usually cheaper but covers less ground.

How much do I give my dog?

Follow the weight chart: 1/4 tsp for 1 to 5 lbs, 1/2 tsp for 6 to 15 lbs, 3/4 tsp for 16 to 39 lbs, 1 tsp for 40 to 59 lbs, 1.5 tsp for 60 to 89 lbs and 2 tsp for 90+ lbs, once a day.

Does it need to be refrigerated?

Yes, refrigerate after opening to keep the live cultures viable. That also means it is less convenient to take on trips.

Is it safe for puppies and small dogs?

The dose chart starts at 1/4 tsp for dogs 1 to 5 lbs, so small dogs are covered. Check with your vet before giving it to puppies or dogs on medication.
