Our take on the Champs Elite Large Aluminum Hardside Suitcase

The Champs Elite Large is a 30-inch checked spinner built from aluminum, so the shell is rigid and the case is heavier than a polycarbonate bag of the same size. It comes in six finishes, including black, silver, gray, rose gold, green and titanium gold. At $293.99 at Macy's as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the low end of what the four stores listing it new charge. That is a fair price for an aluminum checked case, though it is still a step above mid-range plastic luggage.

Best forFrequent flyers who check a bag and want a hard shellTravelers who prefer a metal look over plasticShoppers wanting a large 30-inch case for long tripsBuyers who want a spinner in a colored finish
Pros
  • Aluminum shell resists cracking and holds its shape
  • 30-inch size suits trips of a week or more
  • Four spinner wheels roll the case upright
  • Six color options, from black to rose gold
  • Latest best price of $293.99 is the low end of its four-store range
Cons
  • Metal shell adds weight before you pack anything
  • No give in the shell, so it can dent on hard impacts
  • Checked size means no carry-on use
  • Aluminum cases scratch and show scuffs
  • Pricier than many polycarbonate checked bags

Questions and answers

Is the Champs Elite Large worth $293.99?
At $293.99 at Macy's as of November 3, 2026, it is the cheapest of the four stores listing it new. That is reasonable for an aluminum checked case, but compare against polycarbonate bags if weight matters more than the metal shell.
Is a 30-inch suitcase too big for most trips?
A 30-inch checked case holds enough for trips of a week or more, or for two people. For shorter trips a 24- to 26-inch case is easier to handle and less likely to hit airline weight limits.
How heavy is an aluminum case like this?
Aluminum shells are heavier than plastic ones, so expect this case to weigh noticeably more than a similar-size polycarbonate bag before packing. Check the airline weight limit before you fill it.
Does it come with a warranty?
Champs luggage typically carries a limited manufacturer warranty, but the terms vary by retailer. Confirm the warranty length with Macy's or the other stores before buying.
When is the price lowest?
Luggage discounts most around Black Friday, holiday sales and late-summer clearance. The current $293.99 is already the lowest of the four stores, so watch for further markdowns during those windows.
Where is the Champs Elite Large Aluminum Hardside Suitcase cheapest?
At Macy's, for $293.99, 41% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Champs Elite Large Aluminum Hardside Suitcase?
6 stores we checked sell it, including Macy's, Belk, Champs Luggage, Best Buy, Lyst.
