Is a mechanical keypad lock worth it over a smart lock?

Yes if you want zero batteries, no app and no Wi-Fi, and only need one code for a shed, garage or rental. A smart lock is better if you need per-person codes, remote access or lock history.

How many codes can it hold?

Typically one code at a time on this type of lock. You set it by repositioning the buttons, so changing it takes a few minutes with the instructions.

Does it fit a standard door?

It is made for standard residential door prep, but check your door thickness and backset against the listing before buying. Thick or metal doors may need different hardware.

Can I still get in with a key?

Yes. It has a keyed cylinder, so the included keys work if you forget the code or the buttons jam.

At $62.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed. Watch for seasonal sales events, when keypad locks usually drop.

Our take on the CODACE Mechanical Keyless Entry Door Lock with Keypad Door Knob

The CODACE is a mechanical keyless entry knob lock: a push-button keypad on the outside and a keyed cylinder as backup, with no batteries or wiring. It fits standard doors and is aimed at sheds, garages, rentals and back doors where a smart lock is overkill. At $62.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.
