Our take on the Costway 18 lbs Mini Laundry Machine with 11 LBS Washer & 7 LBS Spinner Combo

The Costway 18 lbs Mini Laundry Machine is a portable twin-tub unit with an 11 lb washer and a 7 lb spin dryer, sized to sit in a bathroom, closet or small apartment. It is 24 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 16 inches high, so it fits where a full-size washer will not. It runs on standard electric power and needs a sink or hose hookup rather than a dedicated laundry connection. Shoppers rate it 3.8 out of 5 from 14 ratings, which is middling for the category.

Best forApartment and dorm dwellers without a laundry hookupSmall households washing a few items at a timeCampers, RV owners and boat ownersPeople who want a separate spin dryer for hand-washed clothes
Pros
  • Two tubs let you wash and spin-dry in one session
  • Compact footprint fits closets and bathrooms
  • 11 lb wash and 7 lb spin capacities are generous for a portable unit
  • Simple dial controls with no installation beyond a hose
  • Black finish looks less utilitarian than white portables
Cons
  • Needs to be filled and drained by hand or with a hose each cycle
  • Spin dryer leaves clothes damp, so air drying is still needed
  • No heating element, so it relies on your water supply temperature
  • 16-inch height means bending to load and unload
  • Middling 3.8 out of 5 owner rating

Questions and answers

Is the Costway mini laundry machine worth it?
It is worth it if you have no laundry hookup and wash small loads. It is not a replacement for a full-size washer: you fill and drain it yourself and still air dry clothes.
How much can it wash at once?
The wash tub holds about 11 lbs and the spin tub about 7 lbs. That is roughly a few shirts, towels or a small bedding load per cycle.
Does it need to be plumbed in?
No. It uses a hose to fill from a sink or tap and drains into a sink, tub or bucket. There is no permanent plumbing connection.
Does it heat the water?
No. It has no heating element, so the wash temperature is whatever your tap or bucket supplies.
How big is it?
It measures 24 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 16 inches high. Check doorways and closet space before buying.
When is it cheapest?
Portable twin-tub washers tend to drop around back-to-school and major holiday sales. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Costway 18 lbs Mini Laundry Machine with 11 LBS Washer & 7 LBS Spinner Combo?
