Our take on the Tabu Washer

The Tabu Washer is a portable top-load washer-dryer combo with a 17.8 lb wash capacity and an 8 lb dryer capacity, built for apartments and small spaces. It uses a stainless steel drum, a simple knob control panel, and high-efficiency operation. At 21.2 inches wide and 25.2 inches tall, it fits where a full-size machine will not. Shoppers rate it 3 out of 5 from 103 ratings, so expectations should be set for a compact, basic combo rather than a full laundry replacement.

Questions and answers

Is the Tabu Washer worth it?
It makes sense if you have no laundry hookup and need a portable unit that washes and dries. If you have space and plumbing for a full-size machine, a separate washer and dryer will clean and dry better for similar money.
How much can it actually dry?
The dryer is rated at 8 lbs, less than half the 17.8 lb wash capacity. Plan to wash larger loads and dry them in smaller batches, or hang items to finish.
Does it need to be vented or plumbed?
It is a portable top-load unit, so it is designed to hook up to a sink or standard faucet rather than a dedicated laundry connection. Check the included hose and adapter setup before buying.
What are its dimensions?
It measures 21.2 inches wide, 25.2 inches tall and 13.8 inches deep. Measure your doorway and intended spot, since the depth figure is unusually shallow for a combo and worth confirming.
How does it compare with a full-size washer-dryer combo?
Full-size combos wash 20+ lbs and dry far more per cycle, but they need dedicated plumbing and 240V power. The Tabu trades capacity and drying speed for portability and a standard outlet.
When is the best time to buy?
Portable laundry units see the deepest discounts during major sales events and at the end of summer moving season. Compare current store prices against its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Tabu Washer?
Rated 3 out of 5 from 103 ratings.
