Is the DWS716XPS worth it over the non-XPS DWS716?

The XPS version adds the cut-line LED, which many users find more accurate than a laser and needs no alignment. If you cut trim often, the upgrade is worth it. For rough framing only, the standard model is enough.

Does it cut 2x8 at 90 degrees?

Yes. Cross-cut capacity at 90 degrees is 2x8. For taller stock you need to check the vertical capacity before buying.

Can it cut crown molding standing up?

Yes. It handles up to 6-5/8 inches of crown nested against the fence, and 6-1/2 inches of base molding.

Is it single or dual bevel?

It is single-bevel. The blade bevels 0 to 48 degrees left and right, but you flip the workpiece for compound cuts on the other side.

The saw comes with a 12-inch carbide blade, a dust bag, a blade wrench and a hold-down clamp. A stand is not included.

Our take on the DEWALT DWS716XPS

The DEWALT DWS716XPS is a corded 12-inch single-bevel sliding compound miter saw with a 15-amp motor turning the blade at 3,800 RPM. It has 14 positive miter detents, miter capacity of 50 degrees left and right, and bevel stops at 0, 22.5, 33.9 and 45 degrees. The XPS model uses a cut-line LED instead of a laser, which many users prefer for accuracy. The best new price is $422.00 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, with only one store listing it new.
