The DWS780 adds an XPS LED cut line and a slightly different fence setup. If you want a shadow line for fast layout, the 780 is the upgrade; the 779 cuts the same sizes for less.

Yes. The tall sliding fences support crown up to 7-1/2 inches nested and base molding up to 6-3/4 inches vertically against the fence.
What blade does it take?
It uses a 12-inch blade with a 5/8-inch arbor. A fine-tooth trim blade is a common upgrade over the stock blade for finish work.
