Our take on the Dunlop Latex Mattress Topper Soft to Extra-Firm

This is a 3-inch Dunlop latex mattress topper in Twin size, offered in a range of firmness levels from soft to extra-firm. Latex is naturally resilient and breathable, so it adds cushioning without the body-hugging sink of memory foam. It is a way to soften a too-firm mattress or firm up a sagging one without buying a new bed. No current price was provided, so check the latest best price against its recent range before buying.

Best forBack and stomach sleepers who want a firmer surfaceHot sleepers who dislike memory foam heatReviving a mattress that is too firm or slightly saggingGuest beds and rentals where the mattress can't be replaced
Pros
  • 3-inch latex adds real cushioning and support, not just a thin pad
  • Latex sleeps cooler than memory foam and resists body impressions
  • Firmness options let you tune the feel to your sleep position
  • Naturally durable and resistant to dust mites
  • Twin size fits standard twin mattresses and bunk beds
Cons
  • Latex is heavy and awkward to move and rotate
  • Soft latex can feel bouncy and less motion-isolating than foam
  • No washable cover or straps mentioned, so it can shift on the mattress
  • Costs more than a polyfoam or fiber topper
  • Twin size only suits single sleepers and kids' beds

Questions and answers

Is this topper worth it?
If your mattress is too firm or slightly sagging, a 3-inch latex topper is one of the more durable fixes and costs far less than a new mattress. Skip it if your mattress is deeply sagging, since a topper won't fix a collapsed core.
Should I get soft or extra-firm?
Side sleepers usually do best with soft or medium, while back and stomach sleepers generally prefer medium-firm to extra-firm. Heavier sleepers should lean firmer, lighter sleepers softer.
Does latex sleep hot?
Latex is open-celled and breathes better than memory foam, so most owners find it cooler. A breathable mattress protector helps further.
Will it fit a standard twin mattress?
Yes, it is sized for a standard twin mattress. Latex has little stretch, so measure your mattress if it is an unusual depth or an RV or bunk size.
How do I care for it?
Spot clean only; latex should not go in a washing machine or dryer. Air it out periodically and rotate it to even out wear.
When is it cheapest?
Latex toppers tend to dip during major sales events and when a firmness or size is being cleared out. Check the price history before buying.
