Our take on the Ebern Designs 55.2" Corduroy Pull Out Sleeper Sofa Bed

The Ebern Designs 55.2" Corduroy Pull Out Sleeper Sofa Bed is a compact two-seat sofa that converts to a sleeper by pulling out the seat. Corduroy upholstery gives it a softer, textured look than the usual flat-weave sleeper fabrics. At 55.2 inches wide and 37.4 inches deep, it fits small living rooms, studios and guest rooms where a full-size sofa will not. It is a budget-tier piece, so expect lighter foam and a simpler frame than a dedicated sleeper couch.

Best forStudio and small-apartment owners who need a sofa that doubles as a guest bedGuest rooms and home offices with limited floor spaceShoppers who want corduroy texture on a low budgetOccasional overnight guests rather than nightly sleeping
Pros
  • Compact 55.2-inch width suits tight rooms
  • Pull-out design turns the seat into a sleeping surface without a separate bed
  • Corduroy fabric adds texture and a warmer look than plain microfiber
  • Single-piece delivery, no assembly of multiple modules
  • Works as a two-seat sofa day to day
Cons
  • Small footprint means a short sleeping surface, tight for tall adults
  • Budget foam and frame are not built for nightly use
  • Corduroy shows crushing and marks where people sit most
  • Pull-out mechanism and thin mattress pad are the usual weak points at this price
  • Limited color and configuration options

Questions and answers

Is this sleeper sofa good for sleeping every night?
No. It is best for occasional guests. The foam and pull-out pad are thin, and the 55.2-inch width gives a short bed that suits kids and shorter adults better than tall sleepers.
How big is the sleeping surface?
The sofa is 55.2 inches wide and 37.4 inches deep, so the pulled-out bed is roughly the width of the sofa. That is closer to a small twin than a full-size bed.
Does it need assembly?
It ships as one piece, so the main setup is attaching any legs and pulling the mechanism out once. Check the box for the legs and hardware before discarding it.
Is corduroy a good fabric for a sleeper?
It is soft and hides seams well, but it crushes and shows marks where people sit. Vacuum it and brush the nap to keep it looking even.
How does it compare with a futon?
A futon folds flat and usually has a thicker mattress; this one pulls out and keeps a sofa look. The trade-off is a thinner sleeping pad and a mechanism that needs gentle use.
When is the best time to buy it?
Sleeper sofas and upholstered furniture usually drop during holiday sales and end-of-season clearances. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Ebern Designs 55.2" Corduroy Pull Out Sleeper Sofa Bed?
