Is this bed frame worth it?

If you need storage in a small room and want a platform bed that skips the box spring, it is a reasonable buy. The 1,200 lb rating and included headboard are strong for the price class. Skip it if you want a quiet, all-wood frame.

Does it need a box spring?

No. Slats are included, so a mattress sits directly on the frame. A box spring would only add height.

What size mattress fits?

It is a Queen frame, 60 inches wide, so use a standard Queen mattress, 60 by 80 inches. A very thick mattress may overhang the side rails slightly.

How much weight does it hold?

The listed maximum is 1,200 lb, which covers most couples plus bedding. That figure assumes the frame is assembled correctly and all bolts are tightened.

The frame, headboard, slats and storage drawers, plus the hardware and instructions. The mattress is not included.

Bed frames like this usually dip during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Check the price history before buying outside those windows.

Our take on the EDX Size Bed Frame with Storage Space

The EDX Queen Captain's Bed Frame is a metal platform bed with a headboard, built-in under-bed storage drawers, and included slats, so no box spring is needed. Its 1,200 lb weight capacity and 60-inch width put it in the sturdier class of metal platform beds. The drawer storage is the main draw for small bedrooms that need to hide linens or clothing. It is a frame-only purchase: mattress and bedding are not included.
