Our take on the Electric Guitar Kit w/ Amp, Dual Humbuckers, Maple Neck, Matte Finish

The Pyle STG-1030 is a full-size starter electric guitar bundled with a practice amp, cable, gig bag and spare strings. It pairs a solid paulownia body and maple neck with two open-coil humbuckers, a 5-way selector and an S-style tremolo. The 20W amp adds a drive switch, treble and bass controls and a headphone out for quiet practice. At $145.99 at Pyle USA as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range and is the cheapest of the two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the Pyle STG-1030 kit worth it for a beginner?
Yes, if you want one box with everything to start. The guitar, amp, cable, gig bag and spare strings cover the basics for about $146. Plan on a tuner and possibly a setup.
How does it compare with a Squier or Yamaha starter guitar?
Those cost more and usually come without an amp, but they tend to hold tune and feel better finished. The Pyle wins on price and completeness; the others win on build consistency.
Does the amp have a headphone jack?
Yes. The included amp has a headphone output, so you can practice without disturbing others. It also has a drive switch plus volume, treble and bass controls.
What is in the box?
The guitar, a practice amplifier, a 98.4-inch cable, an Allen key, a tremolo rod, a gig bag and six spare strings plus an extra first string.
Why does it go out of tune?
New strings stretch and budget tuners slip, which is common on starter guitars. Stretching the strings and lubricating the nut helps; a pro setup fixes most of it.
When is the best time to buy?
At $145.99 at Pyle USA as of November 4, 2026, it is already near the bottom of its recent range. Holiday sales are the other window to watch.
